WINE TOUR ARMENIA

ARENI WINE FEST AND EREBOUNI-YEREVAN TOUR

During this tour you will get acquainted with Armenia from different perspectives and will take part in Areni wine festival as well as Erebouni-Yerevan celebration.

Day 1

We greet you at the Zvartnots International Airport and transfer to the one of the best hotels of Yerevan, Tufenkian Historic Yerevan boutique hotel.

Welcome dinner at the national Armenian restaurant.

Overnight stay: Yerevan, Tufenkian hotel.

Day 2

Transfer to Areni village. We will participate in the Areni Wine Festival. Armenian wine producing history goes back to 5,000 years! An ancient wine cellar was found in Armenia inside a cave. The cellar dates back to 3500 BC and shows how ancient winemaking was done. We will taste different types of Armenian wine. Also, we will be able to buy some wine from local wineries too.

Same afternoon we will move to well-known spa city, Jermuk. Jermuk is known for its mineral waters coming directly from mountain springs.

Day 3

In the morning we will have a walking tour in Jermuk and enjoy this lovely small town.

Afternoon, we will move to Goris, a city in the Syunic region. Near Goris there are two amazing places that we will visit.

On our way we will visit Karahunj, the Armenian analogue of Stonehenge.

Dinner in the national restaurant.

Day 4

After check-out from the hotel, we will visit medieval Armenian monastery in Tatev. The road to Tatev involved transfer on the world’s longest cableway “Tatev wings”.

Lunch in the country restaurant, on the bank of Arpa river.

In the evening we will arrive to Yerevan.

Day 5-6

Two lazy days in Yerevan. In Yerevan everyone can find own way of relaxing and enjoying its atmosphere. You can have a coffee or grab a snack in one of its nice cafe around or just enjoy walking.

We can also visit Parajanov and Sarian museums and Armenian National Gallery with its amazing collection representing works of Kandinsky, Chagall, Brullov etc.

Another option is to visit Matenadaran with its incredible collection of more than 10,000 ancient and early medieval manuscripts in different languages from Armenian and Hebrew to Chinese and Japanese.

Visit a Vernisage and buy some souvenirs is a must during these days.

Day 7

Excursion to Etchmiadzin. We will visit one of the first Christian churches in the world the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and also Zvartnots. In Etchmidzan we will see various memorabilia including one of the Holy Lances.

Day 8

On the eighth day we will visit Gerhard Monastery and Garni Temple.

Garni Temple is one of the best monuments of Hellenism, representing the movement as large as life. It was built in 1st century AD. By the way it is the only remained pattern of the Armenian architecture of greco-roman period.

Geghard is a medieval monastery built in the mountain.

Day 9

Excursion to Lake Sevan and Dilijan.

First we will visit Lake Sevan and Monastery on the peninsula. After lunch in the fish restaurant by the lake, we will move to Dilijan, a town known as “Armenian Switzerland” thanks to its amazing nature. We will visit Haghartsin Monastery.

In the evening we will have dinner in one of the best Armenian national restaurants of the country.

Day 10

Erebouni-Yerevan celebration.

Erebouni-Yerevan is the day of Yerevan city (Erebouni is the old name of Yerevan). Every year Yerevan City Hall organizes diversity of concerts and events including gala at the Republic Square. After the celebration we will have a Farewell dinner.

Departure.
